I've read that perhaps as many as 70% of people in affected areas of Africa are actually naturally immune to Ebola. It is *possible* that an extinction level event is not possible with Ebola because too many people are just plain immune to it. However, given the high death rate, we can't expose people on purpose to see if they get sick. But this could explain why none of Mr. Duncan's family have gotten sick (yet), and only 2 of the nurses (so far). I'm not minimizing the threat, I firmly believe extreme measures should be taken to stop the spread of this disease, but it may turn out to be a lot less awful than it initially appeared to be.

by FatFreek 2005 insomehow, i don't have a warm fuzzy feeling when i keep hearing from the center of disease control, "ebola is not spread through the air ...".

Come with me, back to the 1980s--you know want to.
by FlyingHighNow ini don't know about ya'll, but i did not appreciate the 1980s enough.
i was too busy lamenting how different they were from the 1960s and 1970s to bask in and appreciate how wonderful they were.. this is 80s music, especially new wave music, and 80s fashion and culture appreciation thread.
what did you love about the 80s?

Cable vs the Antenae tower
by Quarterback ini kind of wanted to know if some have made this transition from escaping the satellite/cable monopoly to the large antenaes that require no monthly bills.
does it work?
is there a good quality such as hi def?

we live in rural Southern Illinois and we have an antenna. Buy the biggest antenna you can, put on a rotor, and buy a standalone Tivo. You'll get plenty of free TV and save a small fortune every month.

Turning My House in to A Ex-JW Gathering Church, Will it bug my JW Neighbors?
by BucketShopBill ini am thinking of turning my house in to a ex-jw meeting place, getting bar, pool tables, ping-pong, foseball, pinball and kegs of beer on tap.
big screen singles pad for the local ex-jws to visit and hang out.
will this bug all the jws who live near by me, do they get weird around known apostates?.

Since leaving the borg, we have made lots of new friends. One just happens to be the former best friend of the most arrogant, pompous, self important elder in the local congregation. It seems to bother Elder Pompous greatly when he sees his former best friend over at our house having a beer and hanging out with us. So I would say that there is a fair chance that it would bug your neighbors to see you enjoying social activities with other former dubs.
